
Winston Hayden is an independent IT governance and service management consultant based in Johannesburg, South Africa. He has well over 15 years hands of experience in the IT industry, across various industry sectors such as banking, insurance, mining, manufacturing, aviation, telecommunications and government.
After studying IT Management in the United Kingdom, Winston gained invaluable hands-on experience as a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), an IT Operations Manager and an IT Project Manager.
In 1999, he settled in South Africa and established a consultancy. He has worked within institutions such as Nedbank, Gensec Bank, Hollard Insurance, EDS, Dimension Data, Afrox Gas, Anglo Platinum and the Auditor General of South Africa.
Winston holds the ITIL Managers Certificate, is an accredited ITIL trainer and is also licensed to provide COBIT Training. He provides training workshops on ITIL, IT Service Management, COBIT, IT Governance and IT Assurance.
Winston is a CGEIT (Certified in the Governance of enterprise IT) and a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) through ISACA (The Information Systems Audit and Control Association) He is currently the Vice-president and IT Governance Institute Liaison for ISACA South Africa; and has participated in several research publications from the ITGI (IT Governance Institute) such as the RiskIT Framework, COBIT and Application Controls, and The COBIT User Guide for Service Managers.
Winston is a member of the South African Nation Standards workgroup for IT Governance – ISO/IEC 38500, and a member of the ISO/IEC 29184 Development Workgroup for The Corporate Governance of IT – Implementation Guide. Winston is also a member of the IT Governance Committee for the King III Report.
