The criminological profile of a cyber criminal

Presentation abstract:
The criminological profile of a cyber criminal, based on a Meta analysis and interviews, elaborate on features related to the individual perspective with reference to biological, psychodynamic, and cognitive features, including rational decision making. The individual is functioning in a social context and is confronted with social problems and involvement in interpersonal relationships. The offender preferred a specific dress code, appearance and communication style. Most of these characteristics are applied during the perpetrating of a cyber criminal event. Precursors or crime risk factors, predisposing factors, and vulnerability factors all related to the actual crime and a selected target. Therefore the characteristics of organisations and individuals at risk are listed with the intent to create awareness. Precipitating factors include deficiencies of the administration of the criminal justice system and the increasing sophistication and skills of offenders. Different modus operandi is used when committing the crime. The impact of the consequences and implications of the conviction, also known as the aftermath of the crime, reconcile future criminal involvement.
